In 2011, Foster Huntington did something that many do not even dream of. He quit his job, bought an old Volkswagen van and escaped the urban jungle of New York. After that, he traveled around the country and took pictures and published photo books. One of Foster’s most popular books was: “Home is where you park.“
Three years passed and 27-year-old Huntington decided to make up his mind. He and his friends decided not to buy a house, but to build it on a tree, choosing the location in western Washington state near the Oregon border.
As Foster says of his idea:
It took a whole year to build the idea on a tree (the Rope Park company builds houses on trees much faster). As a result, a two-level house (essentially two houses) with a total area of 60 square meters each was built. One house is for the workshop, and the other is for living in it, and bunk beds are installed. An 8-meter-long bridge connects the house with an observation deck in the center. And on the ground there is a pool for skating and a bath.
